ETHICS THEATER: USING MOVIE SCENES TO DISCUSS THE KRPC

In this 1-hour ethics CLE, various rules of professional conduct will be discussed and analyzed by viewing clips from legal movies in which the rules are implicated.

#METOO AND OUR JUDICIARY: ENHANCING CONFIDENCE IN THE SYSTEM

A survey of cases, hearings, and judicial branch policies related to sexual harassment in the judiciary as a framework for helping lawyers develop or review their own firm policies and to assist those confronting harassment in finding support and guidance.

After graduating from the University of Kansas law school in 2007, Matt began working as a research attorney for the Kansas Court of Appeals, first as a member of the court’s central research staff, then as a chambers attorney for the Hon. Melissa T. Standridge.
In 2012, Matt became a research attorney for Justice Eric Rosen of the Kansas Supreme Court. In May 2016, he left Justice Rosen’s chambers to work as a staff attorney for the Office of Judicial Administration, working on court policy, employment matters, open records and open meetings issues, and responding to subpoenas issued on court employees.
In November 2016, he joined the Office of the Disciplinary Administrator where he now investigates and prosecutes violations of the rules of professional conduct.

Larry Zimmerman is partner in the woman-owned law firm, Zimmerman & Zimmerman, P.A., in Topeka, Kansas.  He has an undergraduate degree in education from Emporia State University and obtained his J.D. from Washburn University School of Law in 2000. Mr. Zimmerman is licensed to practice in Kansas, Nebraska, all tribal courts situated within Kansas, and in the Tenth Circuit. He writes a monthly column for the KBA Journal and has served as president of the Kansas Bar Association Law Practice Management Section, sits on the KBA Legislative Committee, and is the legislative coordinator for the Kansas Credit Attorney Association.
